I had already done a clean install of all related applications, Waves, Cubase etc., And also cleaned registry of everything that mentioned Waves before re-installing…įinally I decided to search the registry for WaveShell-VST3… Low and behold the solution – A very odd registry key gets added if the Waveshell crashes. Renaming it back to the original WaveShell-VST3 9.2_圆4.vst3 still causes crashes… What is going on? Waveshell crashes again and now the projects will not load again even with the renamed file, unless it was renamed yet again. I renamed the file to WaveShell-VST3 9.2_圆4_BLAH.vst3 Wow! Success!Īll my projects loaded again… But it is not over yet. This file is found here and this put me on the right path: I found a post related to a different issue that suggested renaming the WaveShell-VST3 9.2_圆4 file.

I am using Cubase here but it could be any 64 Bit DAW host application. Cubase crashes when inserting ANY Waves plugin into a fresh project. Cubase crashes when loading a project that contains ANY Waves plugins. #WAVESHELL VST 9.2 COMPONENTS WINDOWS 8#
Usually Windows 8 but can be Windows 7 – Must be 64 Bit. The first step was realising that if I removed the Waves plugins from my system the problem went away. So I thought this would be worth sharing, as during my search I found many folks with similar trouble and no solution. The next morning I woke up and with a fresh head, found myself a cure within 30 minutes (based on the research I had done the day before). I re-installed, searched, cleaned, refreshed preferences, you name it, I tried it…ġ5 hours later I was still unable to load any of my projects without Cubase disappearing into the dark depths where all dead project go. Even projects that I was working on the very day before. All my Cubase 7 (64 Bit) projects refused to load without crashing. All of these VSTs are located in the following folder hierarchy in the Ableton plugin menu: Waves / WaveShells V9 / WaveShell-VST 9.I had a 15 hour struggle in the studio recently. Doubler2 Mono vst, Doubler2 Mono vst/Stereo vst, Doubler2 stereo vst. The problem is that I now see 120 separate VSTs listed inside the Live Wave folder and many appear to be variations of the same plugin eg. All of these VSTs are located in the following folder hierarchy in the Ableton plugin menu: Waves / WaveShells V9 / WaveShell-VST 9.6 / vst XXXĬan you please tell me what I have done wrong or how I can re-install the plugins to the Live M: drive VST folder? I couldn't work out a way to get Live to see the Wave folder so in frustration, I copied the entire Wave folder containing the above mentioned 5 folders from the C: drive and simply pasted it into the Ableton VST folder located on the M: drive.Īll of the VST Wave plugins now appear in Live and as far as I have tested, they all are working correctly including the various preset library settings. The Waves Plug-Ins folder contained 35 bundles plus associated documents eg Audio Track bundle, C1 bundle, C4 bundle, DeEsser bundle etc. It contained 5 folders: Applications, Data, Plug-Ins V9, ReWire and Waveshells V9. As it was, the Waves plugin folder automatically installed in the C: drive Program Files (x86) directory.

the software downloaded OK but I wasn't given a choice as to where the plugins were finally installed. Installation of the bundle was via the Easy Install and Activate menu on the Waves Central page.
I have a silly question regarding installation of the various components as I don't think they have installed correctly or they may have installed in the wrong place.
Just a quick question for those of you who are using the Waves Gold bundle plugins with Live.
